Dear Anonymous

Dear Anonymous,

I’m writing this blog post just for you because I don’t know who you are and have no other way of thanking you personally.

On Friday, as you already know, I was booked in to the Naturally Organic Hair Salon in Chermside for my very first post-chemo hair cut and colour (to hide the greys). I travelled an hour to the other side of the city to visit this particular salon because they use natural and/or organic products. As you already know where possible I’m choosing to live a predominately organic lifestyle to further prevent my breast cancer or any other cancer from returning. Once in a this lifetime is enough for me thanks.

After I was seated in my chair my stylist came over and ran through the consultation with me. When it came time to let me know what it was costing she informed me that someone had rung and paid for my salon visit but wished to remain anonymous. I was gob smacked. Is this for real? These sort of things don’t happen to me. Is my luck finally turning around, and for the better? I fought back tears as I was just so over whelmed by your gesture. I couldn’t believe it at ┬áthe time and still can’t.

You knew this wasn’t just any old haircut and colour. This was a very big deal to me and a turning point to my ‘new normal’ life post-breast cancer. Only those who have gone through chemotherapy treatment can truly understand the significance of this. Words don’t even come close to describing what it means to us.

I know it wasn’t my family, I don’t think it was any of my actual friends. So I can only guess that you’re a breast cancer thriver like myself, or an internet friend or one of my many caring and loving readers. I honestly don’t know. I respect that you want to remain anonymous but on the other hand I’d love for you to come forward so that I can personally thank you. It just doesn’t seem right to take something from someone, something of value anyway, without at least saying thank you. Call me old-fashioned but that’s just how I was raised anonymous.

So please, if you’re comfortable in doing so you can contact me privately by email. If not, I respect your wishes and just wanted to say THANK YOU once again.

Who ever you are, you’re a generous selfless human being who obviously has a big heart. I just wish I knew who you were.

UPDATE: Anonymous has come forward privately and I’ve been able to thank them like I had wished. All’s good in the world again.

What a fantastic gesture. You deserve it Lia. I hope the trip to the salon was everything you dreamed it would be.

How was it getting a colour with organic and natural products? I’m interested in trying this salon.

Hi Cat,

I’m really happy with the salon, the staff and especially the colour. I highly recommend you try it for yourself. They have one at Carindale & Chermisde.

I hope this helps. xxx
