five-benefits-massage

I don't know about you, but I love a good massage. So much so I've been getting them for years for relaxation, to remedial to reflexology. But we don't all know why they're good for us, so I wanted to share my five benefits of body massage.

Did you know that massage is perhaps one of the oldest healing traditions? What about the fact that massage is the use of the hands to manipulate the soft tissue of the body to reduce muscle tension, maintain flexibility and improve circulation.

For me, one of the immediate benefits of body massage is the feeling of deep relaxation and calm. Why does this happen? Because massage prompts the release of endorphins – the brain chemicals that produce those feelings of well-being. Plus our levels of stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol, are also reduced. Here are five more benefits of body massage.

5 Benefits of Body Massage

  • Improved Circulation
  • Increased Joint Mobility & Flexibility
  • Reduced Muscle Tension
  • Reduced Anxiety & Depression
  • Reduction of Stress Hormones

Did you know that massage is perhaps one of the oldest healing traditions? What about the fact that massage is the use of the hands to manipulate the soft tissue of the body to reduce muscle tension, maintain flexibility and improve circulation.

I don't know one person who wouldn't benefit from one or all of the above benefits. Especially considering so many of us sit at our desks in front of a computer at work day in day out. That position isn't ideal for our muscular or skeletal system and is just one of the many reasons we need deep tissue massaging done. Plus there's a multitude of different types of body massage to suit everyone's need.

5 Types of Body Massage

  • Aromatherapy
  • Lymphatic Drainage
  • Remedial
  • Reflexology
  • Sports

These are five types I've personally experienced and are all equally good. I don't have a favourite because it depends on my body's need at the time.

Google's your best friend and can help you find a masseuse in your area or anywhere else in the world. The choices are endless. The only thing you have to determine is, what does my body need right now and give it that. Simple!

I don't know about you, but all this talk of body massage makes me want to book in for one for myself, and soon. How about you? Are you going to book in with your local masseuse for a body massage? If so, what type do you prefer to get?
